How do we determine what design is good or bad? From Dieter Rams’ “Ten Principles for Good Design”, good design is aesthetic, unobtrusive, honest, innovative, thorough down to the last detail, is as little design as possible, and makes a product useful and understandable. With these criteria in mind, here is an example of a good design on the Williams College website and an example of a bad design from one of the college’s dorms.
